Dua e Qunoot

Dua e Qunoot  is a supplication that muslims recite during the Witr Prayers.  The word “Qunoot” is derived from the Arabic root word qana’n  which means acceptance and tranquillity. The two main familiar forms of Qunoot Dua , The first was recited by Prophets (PBUH)  during the Witr prayers and Second was recited during exceptional circumstances like calamities, natural disasters, or times of public distress.

اللّٰهُمَّ إِنَّا نَسْتَعِيْنُكَ وَنَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَنُؤْمِنُ بِكَ وَنَتَوَكَّلُ عَلَيْكَ وَنُثْنِيْ عَلَيْكَ الْخَيْرَ وَنَشْكُرُكَ وَلَا نَكْفُرُكَ وَنَخْلَعُ وَنَتْرُكُ مَنْ يَّفْجُرُكَ اللّٰهُمَّ إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَلَكَ نُصَلِّيْ وَنَسْجُدُ وَإِلَيْكَ نَسْعٰى وَنَحْفِدُ وَنَرْجُو رَحْمَتَكَ وَنَخْشٰى عَذَابَكَ إِنَّ عَذَابَكَ بِالْكُفَّارِ مُلْحِقٌ

Dua Qunoot Urdu Translation

اے اللہ! ہم تجھ ہی سے مدد مانگتے ہیں، تجھ ہی سے بخشش طلب کرتے ہیں، تجھ پر ایمان رکھتے ہیں اور تجھ ہی پر بھروسہ کرتے ہیں۔ ہم تیری ہر طرح سے اچھی تعریف کرتے ہیں، تیرا شکر ادا کرتے ہیں اور ناشکری نہیں کرتے، اور ہم اس شخص سے بیزار ہو جاتے ہیں اور اسے چھوڑ دیتے ہیں جو تیری نافرمانی اور گناہ کا راستہ اختیار کرے۔

اے اللہ! ہم تیری ہی عبادت کرتے ہیں، تیرے ہی لیے نماز پڑھتے اور سجدہ کرتے ہیں، تیری ہی طرف دوڑتے اور کوشش کرتے ہیں ہم تیری رحمت کی امید رکھتے ہیں اور تیرے عذاب سے ڈرتے ہیں۔ بے شک تیرا عذاب کافروں تک پہنچنے والا ہے

Dua e Qanoot English Translation

O Allah, we seek Your help and ask Your forgiveness, and we believe in You and rely on You, and we praise You with all goodness, and we thank You and do not disbelieve in You, and we forsake and leave whoever disobeys You. O Allah, You alone we worship, and for You we pray and prostrate, and to You we hasten and strive, and Your mercy we hope for, and Your punishment we fear, surely Your punishment befalls the disbelievers.

Dua e Qunoot in Roman English

Allahumma inna nastai’nuka wa nastagfiruka wa nu’minu bika wa natawakkalu ‘alayka wa nuthni ‘alaykal-khayra wa nashkuruka, wa la nakfuruka, wa nakhla’u wa natruku man yafjuruka. Allahumma iyyaka na’budu wa laka nusalli wa nasjudu wa ilayka nas’wa wa nahfidu, wa narju rahmataka wa naksha ‘adhabaka, inna ‘adhabaka bil kuffari mulhiq.

When and How to Recite Dua-e-Qunoot

Hanafi Practice

In the Hanafi school of thoughts, Dua-e-Qunoot is an important part of the Witr prayer. It is recited in the third rak’ah before going into Ruku.This reflects a believer’s modesty and reliance on Allah.

Hadith about Dua Qunoot

Narrated Al-Hasan ibn Ali:
The Messenger of Allah ﷺ taught me specific words that I say during the Witr prayer (in the supplication of Witr). ( (Sunan Abi Dawud 1425).
